healthy life. Our lightly sweetened (low glycemic index) jamu is a blend aromatic roots (turmeric, ginger, galangal, and lemongrass) and spices, brewed to perfection to deliver essential vitamins and minerals for a healthy functioning body.
Indonesians, especially Javanese, believes a healthy body and mind begin with jamu. To us, jamu is a family tradition and we blend them just like our ancestors had done many centuries ago. With that in mind, we introduce our five classic blend that can boost your immune system and mental alertness, reduce inflammation, and overall health.
In 2009, Sajen began operation in San Francisco as an artisan producer of jamu with a strong commitment of using only organic, fresh-cut local ingredients and family recipes. Making jamu is a family tradition that began by its ancestral maternal grandmothers in small hamlet (Para’an) in Central Java, a few hours away from Borobudur Temple.

In 2011, Sajen received a travel award and it took the company to London and Malaysia. In Malaysia, it formed a sister company Sajen Foods & Beverage Sdn. Bhd with local partners and farmers. The goal is to grow its own raw ingredients such as turmeric, ginger and other root spices known for their healing benefits yet still unknown to the mainstream medical community. The company will work closely with local farmers to practice organic as well as bio-dynamic cultivation, as our ancestors had done before the proliferation of chemical fertilizers. Sajen is committed to revive, remember, and honor the farming principles of our ancestors that are in harmony with mother earth.
